Class Descriptions
2009-2010 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
The 2009– 2010 school year will run from August 24, 2009 – June 10, 2010. Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Our variety of classes offers flexibility in scheduling. Children may attend a minimum of two days per week up to five days per week.
You may also choose which hours to send your child:
· A.M. Pre-school and Kindergarten hrs- 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
9:00 – 12:00 p.m. (11:30–12:00 is usually outdoor play)· Half-day hours- 7:30 – 12:00 p.m. (excludes lunch)
12:45 - 5:15 pm (excludes lunch)
8:30 – 1:00 p.m. (includes lunch)
9:00 – 1:30 p.m. (includes lunch)
· Full day (9 Hours) 7:00 – 4:00 p.m. or 8:30 – 5:30, etc.
· Full day (10 Hours) 7:00 – 5:00 p.m. or 7:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Programs
Class for children who are 5 year old by September 1, 2009:
· 5 mornings (9-11:30am) per week
· Extended enrichment day (includes lunch and no nap) 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
· Full day extended care available
· Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2009
· Class size approximately 16
Classes for children who are 4 year old by September 1, 2009:
· 5 mornings (9-11:30am) per week
· ½ or full day extended care available
· 4-year-old children, who attend 5 days/week. Priority is given to children with birthdays between Sept. 1st and Jan. 30th
· Class is held in conjunction with Kindergarten, with a separate teacher and curriculum
· Class size approximately 15
· 2 – 5 mornings (9-11:30am) per week
· ½ or full day extended care available
· Children need to be 4 years old by Sept. 1st
· Class is held in large classroom with 3 teachers
· Class size approximately 20
· 3 mornings (9-11:30am) per week. ½ or full day extended care available
· Classes held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
· Children need to be 4 years old by Sept. 1st
· Classes are in 2nd floor classrooms with 2 teachers/classroom
· Class size approximately 16 classroom
Class for children who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1, 2009:
Afternoon Preschool (not available during the 2009-2010 school year)
· Available 3 afternoons (12:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.) per week.
· Class will be a combination of 3 and 4 year olds.
· 3 years old by Sept. 1st
· Extended day care available
· Class size approximately 15
Classes for children who are 3 year old by September 1, 2009:
Pre K-1 (Downstairs) – 2 Classrooms:
· ½ or full day extended care available
· Children need to be 3 years old by September 1st
· Children need to be toilet trained
· Classes are in 2 adjoining first floor classrooms with 2 teachers/classroom
· Class size approximately 15/classroom
· 2 mornings (9-11:30am) per week. Classes held on Tuesday and Thursday.
· ½ or full day extended care available
· Children need to be 3 years old by Sept. 1st
· Class is held in large classroom upstairs with 2 teachers
· Class size approximately 15
Classes for children who are not 3 by September 1, 2009
Pre K-1 Younger 3’s :
· 2 mornings (9-11:30am) per week.
· Classroom #1 classes held on Tuesday and Thursday (This class will begin on September 22nd for children who have September or October birthdays. Others may join the class as they are ready, or on January 5, 2010)
· Classroom #2 classes held on Wednesday & Friday (This class will begin January 6, 2010)
· ½ or full day extended care available
· Class session: September 22, 2009/January 6, 2010 – June 10, 2010
· Class designed for children who will be 3 years old between 9/1/2009 and 2/28/2010
· Children need to be toilet trained
· Class size for Tuesday and Thursday approximately 16 with 3 teachers
· Class size for Wednesday and Friday approximately 8 with 2 teachers
Parent-Tot
· Fall session: weeks of Sept. 14, 2009 – Nov.16, 2009 (10 weeks - $70)
· Winter session: weeks of January 11, 2010-March 15, 2010 (10 weeks - $70).
. Spring session: weeks of March 29, 2010-May 31, 2010 (10 weeks-$70)
· Class will be from 9:10 a.m. - 10:10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays
· Class size approximately 8 children with parent

- Summer pre-school (ages 3 - 5)
- Summer Day Camp (ages Kindergarten – 9 years)
