Jr. Kindergarten/Kindergarten

Annual Calendar |  Monthly Calendar |  Daily Schedule

Messiah offers a licensed Kindergarten program that includes reading, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), music, art  and language activities.  During the morning children also participate in Christian education, Spanish, journaling, calendars, and a variety social studies activities.  We offer a spacious fenced, outdoor playground with a large sandbox and modern play equipment.  Morning snack is provided.  Extra-curricular activities available include Miss Pat's weekly dance/movement class.

Junior Kindergarteners will participate in the Kindergarten class, with the same staff and curriculum.  Expectations are that Junior Kindergarteners will attend Kindergarten the following year.

Children should be 5 years old by September 1st  for Kindergarten, although accommodations can be made if parents are considering 1st grade the following year for younger children. Junior Kindergarten children should be 5 by November 1st (we also have an older 4's class-see Pre K-3- for children with fall birthdays) and should generally not be planning on 1st grade the following year.

The 2021– 2022 school year will run from Tuesday, August 23, 2022 – TBD (either Thursday, June 1sst or 8th, 2023-dependant on district #64 schedule). Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Our variety of classes offers flexibility in scheduling. Children may attend a minimum of two days per week up to five days per week.

All of our preschool classes, as well as our Jr. Kindergarten/Kindergarten class, have Music, Chapel, Pastor visits, and Spanish. Find out more about these special classes.

Kindergarten teacher Miss Terri

Miss Terri has been the Kindergarten (now Jr. Kindergarten/Kindergarten) teacher at Messiah since 1979 when the program was initiated.  Her B.A. degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education is from Carthage College. Her family resides in Hoffman Estates and she enjoys music, travel, sports and animals. "From chasing my golf ball, walking my dog, hiking or horseback riding, you'll find me outdoors."

About Messiah:  "Messiah Child Care is a school where children grow academically, socially and spiritually each day.  I have met so many wonderful children and their families teaching at Messiah.   It has been a wonderful opportunity for me to teach in an enriching Christian learning environment.  I have had the chance to see Messiah Child Care grow and continue to blossom and always be a high quality Christian early childhood program.  I enjoy working with the children, the staff, the parents and the pastor at Messiah.  During the summer months, I work with school age children in the day camp program.  Many of these children are school alumni who return to the Messiah family for a familiar, fun time.  I look forward to coming to work each day and spending time at Messiah. It's a great place to be!"

Miss RoseMarie earned her Associate Degree from Triton College and started as a teacher's assistant at Messiah in 2003.  "I have lived in Park Ridge with my husband and three sons for over 22 years.  We are first-time grandparents to a little boy named Gino!  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

About Messiah:  "I have loved working at Messiah!  The sense of family and community makes Messiah a home away from home for the staff and our students!"
