Messiah offers a licensed Kindergarten program that includes reading, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), music, art and language activities. During the morning children also participate in Christian education, Spanish, journaling, calendars, and a variety social studies activities. We offer a spacious fenced, outdoor playground with a large sandbox and modern play equipment. Morning snack is provided. Extra-curricular activities available include Kindermusik and dance/movement class.
5 mornings (9 - noon) per week.
½ or full day extended care available (6:30am - 5:30pm).
Enrichment class is available after lunch (from 12:45-1:30) for children with extended days.
Junior Kindergarteners are children who are generally Kindergarten age (exceptions are made for September and October birthdays), but will benefit from an extra year of school before entering Kindergarten. They will participate in the Kindergarten class, with our Kindergarten staff and curriculum. The children in this class will experience the same academics and opportunity for growth in their social, emotional and academic skills. Expectations are that Junior Kindergarteners will attend Kindergarten the following year.
Children should be 5 years old by September 1st for Kindergarten, although accommodations can be made if parents are considering 1st grade the following year for younger children. Junior Kindergarten children should be 5 by November 1st (we also have an older 4's class-see Pre K-3- for children with fall birthdays) and should generally not be planning on 1st grade the following year.
The 2019– 2020 school year will run from Tuesday, August 27, 2019 – Thursday, June 11, 2020. Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Our variety of classes offers flexibility in scheduling. Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten children attend school five days per week from 9am-noon, with extended child care available.
All of our preschool classes, as well as our Jr. Kindergarten/Kindergarten class, have Music, Chapel, Pastor visits, and Spanish. Find out more about these special classes that are included in Messiah's curriculum.
Meet our teachers
Miss Terri has been the Kindergarten (now Jr. Kindergarten/Kindergarten) teacher at Messiah since 1979. She received her B.A. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Carthage College. "It has been a wonderful opportunity to develop and teach in an enriching Christian learning environment. I have had the chance to see Messiah Child Care grow and continue to blossom and always be a high quality Christian early childhood program. I enjoy working with the children, the staff, the parents and the pastor at Messiah. Terri's family resides in Hoffman Estates and she enjys music, travel, sports and animals. "From chasing my golf ball, walking the dog, hiking or horseback riding, you'll find me outdoors." During the summer months, I work with school age children in the day camp program. Many of these children are school alumni who return to the Messiah family for a familiar, fun time. I look forward to coming to work each day and spending time at Messiah."
About Messiah: Messiah Child Care is a school where children grow academically, socially and spiritually each day. I have met many wonderful children and their families teaching at Messiah. It's a great place to be!"
Miss RoseMarie started as a teacher's assistant at Messiah in 2003. "I have lived in Park Ridge for 22 years with my husband and three sons. We are first-time grandparents to our grandson Gino. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends."
About Messiah: "I have loved working at Messiah! The sense of family and community
makes Messiah a home away from home for our staff and our students!"
Miss Carrie has been a lead teacher in Messiah's Pre K-2 classes since 2012 and has now joined the Kindergarten/Jr. Kindergarten class on Tuesdays and Fridays.
"I began my teaching career 20+ years ago. I am a graduate of St. Norbert College, with an elementary degree and early childhood minor. I began working with preschool age children in high school and have done so ever since. Over the course of my career, I have taught at many preschool/child care programs, including Chase House on Chicago’s West Side as well as being a former Child Development Supervisor at UIC Children’s Center.
My husband, Tom, and I have grown up in the Chicago area. We have three children, Shannon-16, TJ-15 and Maggie-12. I made the decision to take time off to raise my children. These years have been a blessing to me and I am so grateful to have been able to be home with them. However, after years of volunteering in my children’s classrooms and heading up their activities, I made the decision to return to teaching. I am so excited to be back into the classroom, back to my passion - teaching preschool age children. As a facilitator of learning, I strive to instill in children that they too are valuable sources of knowledge. I aim to form an environment which will enhance the growth and development of each child.
About Messiah: "Messiah has been such a blessing to me. I am so grateful to have been able to join the Messiah family. I couldn't ask for a better place to continue my journey nurturing children."
